What’s this?

This is an (in-progress) record of books I have read. As an author, editor, and bookseller, I get asked for a lot of book recommendations and I absolutely LOVE finding the perfect book for the perfect person.

I have a natural resistance to things like 5-star ratings, “love it or leave it,” and would/would not recommend. The perfect book for the perfect person might be a wall-pitcher for someone else. (I’m looking at you, Tess of the D’Urbervilles.)

This blog is an attempt to share my love of books with a wider audience in a way that feels both sustainable and authentic.

The goal is (over time) to build a robust, searchable resource to help you find your next favourite book.
